Apple has added the latest entrant into the Airpods world called the Apple Airpods Pro . The Airpods have fast become the most famous and popular headphones in the world . We can see the tiny wireless white earpieces on people everywhere nowadays from Metros to cafes , at Gyms and while out and about on our daily chores . Although not the first wireless earphones in the market and also having faced lot of criticism for its design when it was launched , the Airpods have quickly overtaken everyone else to dominate the category due to its simple and effective design and ease of use and its small and convenient carry case and charging option .
The Airpods Pro is the third generation of the Airpods and it marks an evolution in terms of its design and features . The Airpods are now smaller , while the case that holds them are bigger and wider . The also support wireless charging like the second generation one but come with a Lightning to USB-C cable in the box . Overall , it feels like a big step forward for Airpods .
The Airpods Pro shifts to the in-ear design with silicone tips in one of its biggest design changes since its launch . This change will appeal to a lot of people because unlike the original design which was plastic earbuds that sit in your ear like regular earphones , this one will not be a one-size-fits-all approach . The silicone tips with its different size options will ensure it sits perfectly in the ears of anyone and also the addition of noise cancellation , is a major step forward for music lovers .
The Airpods Pro have a vent on the outside of each earbud to prevent the pressure and clogged feeling that is most commonly felt with in ear headphones and the result is that the Airpods Pro are very very comfortable to wear and also helps in reduce the wind noise effect when outside and on a call .
The Airpods Pro come with 3 silicone tips sizes , small medium and large to help you find the best in ear fit to help optimize the hearing experience . Apple has also bundled a software based fit test in the Airpods settings of the Bluetooth section of the iPhone App . You try a silicone tip size and the test plays a small sample of music and the microphone that’s inside facing tests how it sounds in your ears and suggests if a smaller or larger tip is better for you .
Its simple but effective , very Apple like , it just works .
The Airpods Pro come with a new way to control them and instead of tapping the touch sensor built into the sides of each earbud there is now an indented “ force sensors “ on the stems of both Airpods that need to be squeezed to control them .
- Quick squeeze: play / pause / answer calls
- Double squeeze: skip to the next track
- Triple squeeze: go back to the previous track
- Squeeze and hold: Switch between noise-canceling and transparency modes
Water resistance and Battery Life
The AirPods Pro are IPX4 water and sweat resistant, which means they can handle rain and sweat from your workouts but they cannot handle complete submersion .
Battery life on the Airpods Pro is rated at 4.5 hours for noise cancellation and transparency modes ( more on this a more detailed review once we get our hands on one ) . If you keep both noise cancellation and transparency modes off , you get the same five hours as regular AirPods. As always, the AirPods Pro case contains enough juice for 24 hours of overall battery time.
Overall , it is a solid addition to the Apple portfolio and priced at Rs24900/- and just launched in India it will surely be a good competitor in the segment for a long time to come .
